NFL Week 9 Predictions

*New York Jets (4-3) v.s. Buffalo Bills (5-2) (BUF -3, O/U 45)
This is a big time AFC East matchup. The Bills can really separate themselves from the Jets with a win today at home. The key for the Jets will be their defense. In their three losses, which have all come on the road, they have allowed at least 30 points. I don't see the Jets defense stepping up as the Bills move to 5-0 at home, 6-2 overall with a decisive win over the Jets.
Buffalo 27-17
Spread: Buffalo
O/U: Under

Seattle Seahawks (2-5) v.s. Dallas Cowboys (3-4) (DAL -12, O/U 45)
The Cowboys desperately need to get on track. After a discouraging loss at Philadelphia to go along with linebacker Sean Lee and running back Felix Jones out for today's game, I don't think this will be an easy game for the Cowboys. Seattle isn't a bad road team and they have shown they can surprise people. That being said, I think the Cowboys are more talented and DeMarcus Ware will be pressuring the Seahawks all afternoon.
Dallas 27-20
Spread: Seattle
O/U: Over

Atlanta Falcons (4-3) v.s. Indianapolis Colts (0-8) (ATL -7, O/U 45.5)
Obviously the Colts are 0-8 and it doesn't look like they are improving. The Falcons are heading in the right direction, but they are still only 4-3 and are very much in the thick of the NFC playoff picture. The Falcons need to keep winning and with that in mind, I cannot see them losing this game. Ray Edwards finally has a big game as the Falcons win with relative ease.
Atlanta 34-17
Cameron Wake
Spread: Atlanta
O/U: Over

Miami Dolphins (0-7) v.s. Kansas City Chiefs (4-3) (KC -5, O/U 40.5)
The Chiefs have quietly won four games in a row. After a miserable start to their season, they have really turned it around. But here comes winless Miami, who believe it or not is one of the better road teams in the NFL if you can believe it. There is no doubt in my mind that Miami will be in the game until the very end, but will they take it home today? I have a good feeling that Reggie Bush has another nice game, Matt Moore limits the turnovers and Cameron Wake gets after Matt Cassel as the Dolphins pull out the victory.
Miami 24-17!
Spread: Miami
O/U: Over

*Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3) v.s. New Orleans Saints (5-3) (NO -9, O/U 50)
Tampa Bay has been very inconsistent this season, but they did beat New Orleans a few weeks ago in Tampa. Now, New Orleans has been stellar at home this year where their offense has been fantastic, but I still feel like the Saints have that unpredictability about them where they could lay an egg on a given Sunday like they did last week against St. Louis. I feel that since Tampa plays well against New Orleans, they will keep it close, but I'll count on Drew Brees doing what he needs to do to get New Orleans to 6-3.
Patrick Willis
New Orleans 28-24
Spread: Tampa Bay
O/U: Over

San Francisco 49ers (6-1) v.s. Washington Redskins (3-4) (SF -5, O/U 38.5)
San Francisco is sitting pretty at 6-1, which is why this week is a trap game for the 49ers. The 49ers are coming across the country to play a Redskins team that has struggled offensively of late. I think this will certainly be a very defensive game that will be close until the very end. I'm taking the 49ers because there is something different about this team that makes them a serious contender in the NFC.
San Francisco 10-9
Spread: Washington
O/U: Under

Cleveland Browns (3-4) v.s. Houston Texans (5-3) (HOU -11, O/U 41)
Leon Hall #29 of the Cincinnati Bengals celebrates following the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Paul Brown Stadium on September 27, 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Bengals won 23-20.
Leon Hall
The Texans can extend their AFC South lead with a win today. Cleveland is 3-4, yet they have been playing like a 1-6 team. Cleveland could hang around in this game because Houston has many injuries concerns, but I think that Houston's offense engineered by Matt Schaub and carried by Arian Foster will control the game and defeat Cleveland.
Houston 24-10
Spread: Houston
O/U: Under

Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) v.s. Tennessee Titans (4-3) (TEN -3, O/U 41.5)
The Bengals have one of the NFL's best and most underrated defenses. The Bengals defense has been keeping them in pretty much every game, yet so has the Titans. I think the key to this game is whether Chris Johnson breaks out. I don't see him breaking out though because the Bengals are sound at stopping the run, second in the league in fact. I like Cincinnati to prevail in a low scoring contest.
Cincinnati 17-13!
Spread: Cincinnati
O/U: Under

Denver Broncos (2-5) v.s. Oakland Raiders (4-3) (OAK -8, O/U 42.5)
Carson Palmer debuts for the Raiders in his first start. The Raiders are at a crucial point in their season. After a great start to the season, Jason Campbell went down, Carson Palmer came in. They got destroyed by Kansas City, but now they had a bye week and Denver to get things fixed up. The Raiders are very much in the hunt for a playoff berth, but with a loss today, they could be slipping in the AFC West hunt. Darren McFadden is out for the Raiders, but I think they will play inspired defense and score just enough points to defeat the Broncos.
Oakland 16-14
Spread: Denver
O/U: Under
Wes Welker

*New York Giants (5-2) v.s. New England Patriots (5-2) (NE -9, O/U 51)
In this rematch of Super Bowl XLII, injuries will play a major factor. For the Giants, they won't have Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw as well as Jason Pierre-Paul not being 100 percent. The Patriots have their injury problems as well, with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez all questionable. All that being said, I think its time for the Patriots to get back to putting over 30 points on the board. I also like the Patriots to play well defensively with all the injuries the Giants have on offense.
New England 31-20
Spread: New York
O/U: Under

St. Louis Rams (1-6) v.s. Arizona Cardinals (1-6) (ARZ -2, O/U 43.5)
Both of these teams are playing better football recently. The Rams are coming off a big win against New Orleans while the Cardinals nearly pulled off a huge upset at Baltimore. A big factor in this game will be who plays quarterback for each team. Sam Bradford looks like he is going to play today while Kevin Kolb is doubtful. That is a huge difference in the game because the Rams are starting to get it going offensively with Steven Jackson. I like the Rams to win in a close one.
St. Louis 26-14!
Spread: St. Louis
O/U: Under
Phillip Rivers

*Green Bay Packers (7-0) v.s. San Diego Chargers (4-3) (GB -6, O/U 51)
Here are some reasons why I smell upset in San Diego. One, the Packers are coming off a bye week and they might not tackle as crisply or perform as sharp offensively. Two, the Chargers are coming off two straight losses and they need to get their act together before their moral falls apart completely. Three, the game is in San Diego. Lastly, the Packers are going to be the victim of the Sports Illustrated cover jinx. All of these factors will lead to the Chargers defense doing just enough to slow down Aaron Rodgers and the Packers while Phillip Rivers has one of his best games of the season thus far. Chargers in a shoot out.
San Diego 34-30!
Spread: San Diego
O/U: Over
Ray Rice

**Baltimore Ravens (5-2) v.s. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) (PIT -4, O/U 42)
In week one, the Ravens out-steelered the Steelers. But that game was in Baltimore. Tonight, the Ravens will need to slow down the red hot Steelers who are firing on all cylinders offensively. One big key in this game is that the Steelers will be without LaMarr Woodley. On top of that, James Harrison and James Farrior are not 100 percent. This will allow Ray Rice to have a solid game. Things finally bounce the right way for the Ravens in this rivalry as they get a big win in Pittsburgh.
Baltimore 20-17!
Spread: Baltimore
O/U: Under

*Chicago Bears (4-3) v.s. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) (PHI -8, O/U 47)
Jason Babin
Both of these NFC contenders are heading in the right direction. They have both reeled off two straight wins in impressive fashion. There are many keys in this game, but I think the main one is whether the Eagles get pressure on Jay Cutler to make him uncomfortable in the pocket. When the Bears are passing the ball with success, it opens up the running game led by Matt Forte even more. For the Eagles, they will obviously need to continue to put up points and limit the turnovers. If Philly limits turnovers, I think the Eagles will hang on at home.
