What I Like About Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving should be the number one pick because it is a no-brainer for the Cavaliers. If the Cavaliers want to start their franchise over, Irving is the one and here is why. Kyrie Irving has the complete offensive package and he hasn't even made it to the NBA. I understand that Irving only has a small sample of what did in college due to his toe injury, but his offensive arsenal has more to his game already than other premier point guards had when they were in college. Rajon Rondo didn't have any sort of jump shot at all while he was at Kentucky (and he still doesn't). So if Rondo, who can't shoot, can be a premier point guard, Irving shouldn't have too much of a problem. In Irving's a dozen or so games, he had many explosive offensive outputs, like against Michigan State early in the season he dropped 31 on an efficient 8 for 12 shooting and against Arizona in the tournament, he had 28 points on 9 for 15 shooting. These are formidable college basketball teams and Irving was able to score at will without taking too many shots. If you look back at Derrick Rose in college, he never scored over 27 in a game and he averaged 3 less points per game than Irving did. I see Kyrie Irving being another version of Derrick Rose. I don't really like Derrick Rose's game as a point guard because he is more of an Allen Iverson, score first player than a Steve Nash/Jason Kidd pass first player. I don't believe that being like Allen Iverson results in championships won, but then again, Steve Nash and Jason Kidd didn't win championships either in their prime so I guess it doesn't really matter on what type of point guard you are (I know that Jason Kidd just won with the Mavericks, but he is still coming to the tail end of his career). The Cavaliers would be foolish to pass on Kyrie Irving because they will be passing up on a Derrick Rose caliber player. Kyrie Irving will be the number one pick because the Cavaliers need to start rebuilding by selecting a point guard who they can build around and this will eventually bring the Cavaliers back to the playoffs.
