The NFL's Most Overrated Quarterbacks- Present

Most Over-rated Quarterbacks
Phillip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Phillip Rivers, SD
Rivers is in the mist of a dismal year with the Chargers. But even before this year, with all the talent around Rivers and with the amount of yards he seems to throw for each game, how the hell did they only go 9-7 last year? Rivers is all numbers, no production in the win column.
Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
Sanchez has taken a big step back this year, and it seems to be more and more clear that the Sanchize is a benefit of a great team around him rather than the orchestrater of two consecutive AFC Championship berths.

Kevin Kolb, Arizona Cardinals
Many thought Kolb would turn out to be the next Matt Schaub. Not so fast. Kolb simply isn't very productive and doesn't seem to light it up like he is supposed to. I know Kolb still hasn't even started 16 games in his career, but as of now, he is tremendously overrated.

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
At times, Vick can't be stopped. The problem is that Vick is way, way, way, way too inconsistent to be a top ten quarterback. He can't stay on the field, he doesn't limit his turnovers; overrated.

Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Josh Freeman, TB
25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 2010. Already 16 interceptions thus far in 2011. Clearly 2010 was a fluke, Freeman is not quite the quarterback everyone saw in 2010.

Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos
Orton isn't a bad quarterback by any means, but he is just so....mediocre. With Kyle Orton, I don't care how accurate he is and how many passes he completes, you're not going to go that far with him under center.

Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs
Cassel is very erratic, but I believe just how Josh Freeman had a great year in 2010 and has regressed in 2011, Cassel, before he got injured, was doing the same thing. His success last year was merely due to a weak schedule.

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Stafford is a good quarterback. But let's take a closer look. He has the best receiver in football right now in Calvin Johnson. If you watched Detroit play Dallas earlier this year, you would've seen Stafford throw two terrible interceptions as well as barely complete the simplest passes. Thanks to Tony Romo, the Lions got back into the game and then from there, Stafford just lobbed it up into the endzone and let Calvin Johnson do the rest. Stafford is erratic and the beneficiary of a great wide out.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
Alex Smith, SF
I like Matt Ryan, but he has proven to not be an explosive quarterback in big games. He never seems to come up big on Sunday and Monday night games and he has an 0-2 record in the playoffs. Until he does something in big games, Ryan is slightly overrated.

10 Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers
Smith has had a nice year, but I attribute the 49ers success more to their improved defense, their desire and Frank Gore before I give all the credit to Alex Smith. In a big game in a tight situation, I don't think you want the ball in Alex Smith's hands.
