2011 NFL Offensive Guard Rankings- Preseason

Top 20
20 Matt Slauson, New York Jets
Kris Dielman
19 Ryan Lilja, Kansas City Chiefs
18 Justin Blalock, Atlanta Falcons
17 Mike Iupati, San Francisco 49ers
16 Ben Grubbs, Baltimore Ravens
15 Daryn Colledge, Arizona Cardinals
14 Brandon Moore, New York Jets
13 Bobbie Williams, Cincinnati Bengals
12 Travelle Wharton, Carolina Panthers
11 Wade Smith, Houston Texans
10 Steve Hutchinson, Minnesota Vikings
9 Chilo Rachal, San Francisco 49ers
8 Andy Levitre, Buffalo Bills
7 Kris Dielman, San Diego Chargers
6 Chris Snee, New York Giants

Like I said when I rated the tackles, it's not easy to tell for certain who is better and who is worse, so the guys from 20-5 aren't separated by that much.

Carl Nicks
Top 5
5 Josh Sitton, Green Bay Packers
4 Harvey Dahl, St. Louis Rams
3 Jahri Evans, New Orleans Saints
2 Logan Mankins, New England Patriots
1 Carl Nicks, New Orleans Saints

Having a superb guard is vital for your offense. You see with the Packers, if you run behind guys like Josh Sitton, it doesn't matter if your name is James Starks. With Logan Mankins on the line, you can be BenJarvus Green-Ellis and rush for 16 touchdowns. Same with the Saints, you can have your entire offense open up if you have guards like Jahari Evans and Carl Nicks.
