18 Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints
17 Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati Bengals
16 Chris Cooley, Washington Redskins
15 Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions
14 Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots
13 Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers

9 Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
8 Zach Miller, Seattle Seahawks
7 Owen Daniels, Houston Texans
6 Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars

The tight end position is very vital to most offenses in the NFL. If you look at any of the guys in the top 20, they are capable of stretching the defense and exposing many holes in coverage. Many of these guys like Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Pettigrew, Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski are entering their second seasons so we will see more of them in the future.

Top 5
5 Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
4 Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers
3 Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
2 Dallas Clark, Indianapolis Colts
1 Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers

What separates these guys from the rest is their ability to be a factor every time they are on the field. You have to account for these guys all the time and if you don't, they'll catch a 20 yard pass right through the middle of your defense. Antonio Gates is number one simply because he does this consistently and puts points up on the board better than any tight end.
