Tim Tebow Analysis

Tim Tebow Quarterback Tim Tebow #15 of the Denver Broncos celebrates a touchdown pass to Eric Decker during the third quarter against the San Diego Chargers at INVESCO Field at Mile High on January 2, 2011 in Denver, Colorado.     With all the news surrounding the Denver Broncos quarterback battle, I decided to voice my opinions on the whole situation.
So recently, Merril Hoge went on the air and ripped apart Tim Tebow. I understand what Merril Hoge is saying. If you look at his mechanics and if you look at every throw he makes, Tim Tebow is not an NFL starter. But in the game film Merril Hoge watched, did he not realize that Tebow energized the listless Broncos for the last three games of the season? And it wasn't like Tebow had poor performances in those games, he performed very well as a matter of fact. But that isn't why Tim Tebow won't make a good NFL quarterback. Tim Tebow simply has "it." Now, if you've seen some of my past posts, I talk a lot about NBA players having "it." Now what is "it?" "It" isn't anything in particular, but for Tim Tebow, "it" is the ability to get the ball where it needs to be, managing to put points on the board, managing to persevere in bad times, showing leadership and putting his teams in positions to win. Tim Tebow was a hell of a player and more importantly a hell of a leader for the Florida Gators. Now in the NFL, these qualities still belong to Tebow.
Does all of this mean that I think Tim Tebow should be starting week 1 for the Broncos? No, I do not. Kyle Orton didn't do that much to have his job taken away from him. He had a pretty productive season, emphasis on pretty productive. But he was 3-10 as the starter. He doesn't spark any life into the Broncos while I think Tim Tebow does. Kyle Orton should be the starting quarterback week 1, but he needs to be on a very short leash because Tim Tebow is the future at quarterback for the Denver Broncos. With more experience, he will learn what he needs to do to overcome his mechanical flaws. Tim Tebow has "it" which is why I believe that he has a good future ahead of him.
